Kristin Henry (they/them), MSW, LCSWA

Outpatient Psychotherapist of South Durham

Works with ages 13+

I believe each of us have gifts to aid us in our healing and they can shine in a supportive environment. With curiosity and collaboration, I will walk alongside you in navigating, coping, and thriving through hardships, life transitions, and self exploration. I bring a grounding and patient presence that offers support and encouragement and cultivates an open, non judgemental, and affirming space where you can show up as you are. I welcome people from all backgrounds and specialize in working with those who are transgender, gender expansive, queer, in the LGBTQ+ community, or are a parent.

I support clients around issues of anxiety, depression, gender, identity exploration, ADHD, grief, anger, trauma, communication, relationship challenges, parenting, fertility, adoption, body image, and other challenges. I use a trauma-informed and integrated approach, drawing from mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and solution focused therapy (SFT). Previously, I worked in national and community-rooted organizations and am committed to a liberatory framework, recognizing that many of the challenges faced by marginalized folks are caused, or exacerbated by, unjust systems.

I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a certificate in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I have two wonderful children and enjoy spending time with friends, in community, on trails, in the water, reading, and watching movies.
