Alex is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (#A19038), Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (#642059), and Outpatient Psychotherapist at Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness in North Raleigh where she sees clients via telehealth and in person. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Virginia and her Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before beginning her practice as a therapist, Alex was an elementary school teacher and earned her Master of Art in Teaching at Relay Graduation School of Education.

Alex is passionate about working with adolescents and adults of all ages who are experiencing anxiety, depression, life and family transitions, low self-esteem, relational issues, parenting stress, and processing grief and loss. She enjoys helping individuals work through issues and distress accompanying maternal mental health and parenting, self-esteem and body image, and relational trauma. Alex is LGBTQIA+-affirming and welcomes individuals of all cultures, races, ethnicities, religions, and abilities.

In session, she strives to create a safe, non-judgmental, collaborative environment that aims to encourage and empower clients to explore their authentic selves. Alex strongly values the therapeutic alliance and meeting individuals where they are on their healing journey. Alex’s style integrates elements of various evidence-based models including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness-based practices.

In her free time, Alex spends time with her friends and family, practices restorative and gentle yoga, and enjoys taking her dog on walks and to local dog parks.
