Ariana Schneider (she/her), LCSWA,

Outpatient Psychotherapist in Chapel Hill

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP). I earned two bachelor’s degrees at McDaniel College in Social Work (BSW) & Spanish Language and Culture (BA), and a master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. I received certification as a Trauma Professional from PESI. I practice therapy in both English and Spanish. In 2021, I was honored to receive a national social work award from the National Association of Social Workers honoring my excellence in practice with Latinx populations.

I work from a client-centered, strengths-based perspective and I strive to work with each client to create an environment of compassion and non-judgment that allows for personal exploration and growth. I recognize the importance of trust and safety in the therapeutic relationship and encourage a relationship of open communication and mutual respect. I believe that each person has value and has both a unique set of formative experiences and strengths/tools which guide how they perceive the world.

I have experience working in a multitude of settings with a variety of presenting problems including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, growth and identity issues, gender-based violence, victims of abuse and sexual violence, immigration and acculturation: trauma and stress, chronic illness, and individuals engaged with law enforcement. I have been trained in multiple modalities of brief treatment including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Theory, and Solution Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT). I also have training in longer-term Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic approaches, Narrative Therapy (NT), EMDR-based techniques, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I practice eclectically and utilize strategies that clients and I deem to be the “best fit” for each individual.

I work with clients from all cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds. I am LGBTQIA+ friendly, committed to anti-racist work, and practice from a space of cultural humility. I believe through therapy and individual empowerment people can overcome obstacles and find unique sources of resilience that they have previously left untapped. I look forward to meeting with you!
