Brandy Alcorn (she/her) is an Outpatient Psychotherapist at Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness in North Durham. She is a Licensed Psychological Associate (4379), a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (3218), and a Certified Clinical Supervisor (20680). Brandy earned both her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice, with minors in Sociology and Women’s Studies, and her Master of Psychology with a concentration in Substance Abuse Treatment (MA) degree at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Brandy is trained Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Prolonged Exposure and Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques.

Brandy creates a warm and validating environment for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings. She will help you learn and cope with intense emotions, difficult mood symptoms, overwhelming anxiety and ineffective behaviors through acceptance & change. She also believes that learning to regulate emotions and thoughts which cause suffering is the key to making lasting change. Living a more mindful life is an important part of treatment, helping you learn how to be aware of the way we treat ourselves, others, and also how we create peace in everyday life.

Brandy is passionate about working with clients facing overwhelming life situations and traumatic pasts. She values meeting clients where they are; accepting and listening without judgment & building the foundation for an empowering and fulfilling life worth living. Brandy is also deeply committed to supporting young girls in their late teens and women in early adulthood to adulthood who are experiencing low self-worth, anxiety, body image issues, and have a desire for more peace and wellness in their lives.

Brandy believes all people are doing the best they can. Although difficult, all people can learn to understand and regulate emotions and behaviors. She will seek to understand your individual experience and work with you, at your pace, to work to achieve the goals you set for yourself.
