Carolina Messick (she/her/ella), LCMHCA

Outpatient Psychotherapist in Downtown Raleigh

Works with ages 17+

Hello! Thank you for stopping by. My name is Carolina (she/her/ella) and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. I am (practically) a Raleigh native, having completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Meredith College and earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina State University.

I feel deeply connected to issues surrounding trauma and identity exploration. As a bicultural Latina, I know firsthand the challenge of breaking generational cycles and establishing your own unique path.  I also enjoy working with clients who are undergoing major life transitions, relationship and family conflicts, anxiety, and major life stressors. I am passionate about working with BIPOC and LGBT+ clients, and I welcome clients of all backgrounds.

Therapy can be a journey of highs and lows, and I want to meet you wherever you are in that experience. I strive to provide a space where you feel safe and supported enough to be your most authentic self. I try to achieve this by grounding my counseling in compassion, empathy, and humor. My clinical approach blends Cognitive Behavioral and Person-Centered Therapy while integrating techniques from Narrative Approach and Feminist Therapy. My ultimate goal is to ensure that you feel empowered both inside and outside the counseling space as well as to help you realize your strengths and self-worth.

When I’m not working, I enjoy going to board game nights, cooking new recipes, watching reality TV with my partner, and hiking outside. Fun fact: I have walked part of El Camino de Santiago in Spain during undergrad - my first hiking experience ever!

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a session. I look forward to working with you!
