Rebecca Smith (she/her), LCMHCA
Outpatient Psychotherapist in Garner
Works with ages 5-30
Hello! My name is Rebecca Smith (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Meredith College and my Master of Science in Counseling from East Carolina University. I started my career as a school counselor with Wake County Public School System before transitioning into the world of mental health therapy.
I love working with children, adolescents, and young adults who are facing relationship concerns, low self-esteem, trauma, grief, major life changes, and emotional dysregulation. I have specialized training in treating anxiety disorders and OCD. I particularly enjoy working with women on setting boundaries, coping with past trauma, developing self-compassion, or exploring their identity. I am also passionate about supporting parents of children who are facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
My counseling style is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered. I use elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), as well as art and play therapy techniques when working with clients. My goal is always to meet my clients where they are and encourage them to accept all of the complex parts of themselves.
In my free time, you can find me cuddling with my two dogs and cat, spending time with my family, traveling, baking, going to the movies, walking in the park, or listening to music.
