Wilmarie (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA - #P018867) serving as an Outpatient Psychotherapist in North Durham at Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and offers her services in English, Spanish, or “Spanglish.” Wilmarie received her Master of Science in Social Work degree from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a bilingual health scholar and specialized in integrated behavioral healthcare. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Gender Studies from New College of Florida.

Wilmarie has several years of experience working as a healthcare advocate, researcher, and mental health practitioner firmly grounded in social justice and social change. Wilmarie’s therapeutic work centers healing practices that promote dignity, justice, and self-determination. She strives to create a warm, non-judgmental, empowering, and collaborative healing space where clients can show up just as they are.

Wilmarie enjoys working creatively with clients ages 17+ to address shame, grief, anger, perfectionism, burnout, motivation, rigidity, loneliness, isolation, vulnerability, boundaries, life transitions, relationships, interpersonal communication, chronic illness, emotional regulation, and suicidal ideation. She has experience working with individuals experiencing varying types and severities of mood, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and personality disorders.

Wilmarie is passionate about working with college students, LGBTQ+ folks, im/migrants, BIPOC, and historically marginalized communities. She also supports clients of all gender identities across the full-spectrum of reproductive healthcare experiences and pregnancy outcomes, including abortion, pregnancy loss, and postpartum.

Wilmarie integrates a variety of therapeutic modalities in her practice, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Radically-Open DBT (RO DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and Relational Therapy.

When she’s not working, you’ll find Wilmarie cuddling her (loud!) rescue cat Coco, plotting her next travel adventure, or reading speculative fiction.
