Brianna Kuo (she/her), MSW, LCSWA

Outpatient Psychotherapist in North Durham

Works with ages 13+

Hello! My name is Brianna (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) serving as an Outpatient Psychotherapist in North Durham. I was born in the United States but spent most of my childhood in China, and offer my services in English as well as conversational-level Mandarin Chinese. I received my Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a focus on Direct Practice. I also hold a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Liberty University in Virginia.

I have several years of experience working with children, teens, and young adults, both in group and individual settings, and I wholeheartedly believe that therapy is a place where everyone should feel welcome!

I enjoy working with clients to address anxiety, depression, life transitions, school stress, interpersonal relationships and communication, emotion regulation, and trauma. I have experience working with individuals experiencing varying types and severities of mood, anxiety, trauma, and I welcome clients from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, religious identities, and sexual orientations.

I am especially passionate about working with youth and young adults, BIPOC, and historically marginalized communities. I love exploring various aspects of racial and ethnic identity as well as cross-cultural issues with my clients, and I enjoy seeing clients embrace the truest form of themselves in relation to the world around them.

In my sessions, I use a mix of various therapeutic styles, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, as well as incorporating techniques such as somatic and mindfulness-based activities, expressive arts, and therapeutic play when appropriate.

In my spare time, you'll find me playing Ultimate Frisbee with friends, listening to music, or exploring nature.
