Eric Smith (he/him)
Clinical Intern
Hello! My name is Eric Smith and I'm a clinical student intern at Three Oaks.
I am an ardent believer in the healing power of human connection. In a culture that seeks to compartmentalize, monetize, and undermine our well-being, I believe we must make choices that bring us closer to one another and our truest selves. I believe that the therapeutic process can play a vital role in this pursuit, and can help to lay the groundwork for sustainable practices of emotional honesty, self-care, interruption of negative cycles, and identification of pathways towards healing and whole-self integration.
I have a particular love for working with people who feel alienated by modern society, with people who feel 'othered', misunderstood, out of sync. As someone who has lived an unconventional life, I understand those who struggle with societal norms, rigidly defined roles, and conventional ideas of happiness and success. I believe we all possess the ability to locate our authentic inner voice that can help guide us through life's challenges. With radical honesty, intention, and vulnerability, we can attune our ears to that true voice and find a path forward.
My approach to therapy is client-centered and empathetic, focused on connection, empowerment, and non-judgmental investigation. We all have a story. I'm here to hear yours and support you on your courageous journey of exploration. I welcome adult clients of all ages, religions, races, sexualities, and gender identities, am LGBTQIA+ affirming and celebrate the ever-expanding definition of what it means to be human.
My background is in organic farming, woodworking, art, and an eclectic mix of travel and adventure jobs. I have also been engaged in an internal and lifelong exploration of my evangelical Christian childhood, and am drawn to those with similar experiences. I enjoy creative writing, making art, and rambling through the woods with my dogs.
I look forward to hearing your story!
