Jharnell Cherry (she/her), MSW, LCSW

Outpatient Psychotherapist in South Durham

works with ages 5-25

Hello! I'm Jharnell Cherry (she/her), an outpatient therapist based at Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness’ South Durham location. My passion is to walk alongside children and families on their journey to healing, and I'm excited to be a part of yours.

I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from East Carolina University and a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring a wealth of experience in working with diverse individuals, including children, young adults, and families.

My therapeutic approach is truly eclectic, drawing from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and strength-based methods, all woven together with a family-centered focus. Guided by a trauma-informed perspective, I specialize in addressing a range of challenges including depression, anxiety, conduct disorders, ADHD, and eating disorders.

My dedication to family harmony and child well-being is unwavering. I actively involve caregivers to ensure they have the tools and support necessary to nurture their child's progress, fostering both physical and psychological safety. Culturally respectful and empathetic, I create a space where children feel seen, heard, and understood.

If you're seeking a therapist who brings warmth, empathy, and a goal-oriented approach to your therapeutic journey, I'm here to support you every step of the way.
