Reeve Buchdahl (they/them), MSW, LCSWA

Outpatient Psychotherapist in Chapel Hill

Works with ages 16+

Hey there! I’m Reeve (they/them) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. I am thrilled to be an Outpatient Psychotherapist at Three Oaks in Chapel Hill working with individuals, couples, and families.

I earned my Bachelors in Theatre Arts: Performance and Practices from the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University and went on to get my Master’s of Social Work at Smith College.

Through my experience and passion, I have found myself focusing on relational and psychodynamic therapy. I lean into how you feel in the room, what is conscious and unconscious, and the therapeutic relationship. I use psychodynamic theory by bringing an understanding that there is not always a solution to a problem, but there are ways to manage and explore it. I enjoy working with families, individuals, and couples who are struggling with issues of sexuality, gender, suicidality, life transitions, and interpersonal dynamics. I use an eclectic variety of tools from my training including harm reduction, Bowen family systems, sex therapy, health at every size, attachment based, and more.

I have had the joy of working with the LGBTQ+ community for the past 4 years. I began by working on the suicide hotline of the Trevor Project and doing case management for people living with HIV and AIDS. During my Master’s program, I had the opportunity to work in Jacksonville, Florida at an LGBTQ+ community health center. I then ended my schooling working at the Duke Adolescent and Child Gender Care Clinic working with transgender youth and their families.

When not in the therapy room, I can be found watching bad reality tv, being a swiftie, hosting dinner parties with my chosen family, and traveling!

I believe in providing a supportive and non judgemental space for my clients while also challenging them to grow. Let’s make therapy feel good for you!
