Dawn Culton (she/her), LCSWA

Outpatient Psychotherapist in Chapel Hill

Works with ages 16+

Hello! I'm Dawn and I'm so excited to be a part of the Three Oaks team as a clinician. My passion lies in working with older adolescents and adults who are going through moments of transition (work, school, family, health), and I can't wait to join you on your journey of healing. I earned my Master of Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill (ranked #4 nationally), and I hold an associate license for clinical social work from the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board. My commitment to staying up to date on the latest research ensures quality care for my clients. I've had the privilege of working with a diverse array of clients including cancer patients, caregivers to those with cancer, and domestic violence survivors. My experience has allowed me to refine my skills in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, although I prefer to use an eclectic approach, blending techniques to best fit the needs of my clients. I am passionate about empowering and validating my clients and helping them find patterns in their behaviors, thus leading to opportunities for new actions to occur.

When I'm not acting as a therapist, you can find me playing ultimate frisbee, going on walks, or reading! One saying that guides me both on the frisbee field and in the therapy office is that progress and success are inevitable. I truly believe that this is true. This unwavering belief helps me consistently take a strengths-based approach that honors the resiliency of clients. I believe in the strength of individuals to overcome what they are facing, and I would love to be a building block in your journey to creating a better future. If you are interested in undergoing this journey with me, please do not hesitate to reach out.
