Ismael Santillano (he/him), LCMHA
Outpatient Psychotherapist in Southern Village
Works with ages 16-35
Hello! My name is Ismael Santillano (he/him). I am a Latinx bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Mental Health Associate (A14016). I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Gardner-Webb University.
While I have experience working with individuals of all ages, I enjoy working with teenagers and young adults (ages 16 to 35). My areas of interest are self-worth/esteem, identity, and cultural issues, acculturation issues, family of origin experiences, family conflict and interpersonal difficulties, depression, anxiety and trauma, and first-generation college students.
I approach therapy believing everyone deserves the space and time to be heard. This is done through a non-judgmental space that allows clients to be themselves. Therefore, I use an approach that is person-centered and culturally affirmative. Along with talk therapy, I integrate other treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
I intend to create a safe space for clients to discuss and process their thoughts and emotions. It would be my honor to join you in your journey of exploration.
When I am not at work, I enjoy watching sports, playing soccer, traveling, playing video games, and spending time with my spouse and daughter.
