Jacob Hill (he/him)

Clinical Intern, The Chicago School

Welcome! I am so glad you chose to be reaching out to Three Oaks!

Jacob Hill (he/him) is a new addition to the team, and is excited to get to work alongside such amazing providers. Jacob has been engaged in social service work for many years now, currently working as a Licensed Substance Abuse Associate and a counseling intern as he completes his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with The Chicago School. Having been privileged to work alongside clients on their road to recovery for the past 8 years, Jacob is excited to keep growing with the program over the coming year. Having completed his Bachelors in Visual Critical Studies, focusing in Art Therapy, with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Jacob has trained through both the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Business and Santa Fe Community College to be bolstering his skills in supporting those experiencing concerns of substance use and domestic violence. Jacob worked with the United States Peace Corps in the Philippines in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages International, conducting livelihood training and community support for youth and teens within the foster care system. Jacob has been lucky enough to work as a Unit Director with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico and serve as the clinic supervisor for the UNM Hospital Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program, providing psychoeducational groups through a partial hospitalization program. Jacob has worked as a crisis counselor and suicide prevention specialist with such agencies as 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and the New Mexico Crisis and Access Line, providing immediate support to callers in crisis as well as assisting in the mentorship and training of new, oncoming providers.

Since moving to North Carolina, Jacob has been further dedicating himself to learning different ways of supporting those experiencing life’s transitions. Jacob takes a solution-focused, person-centered approach to working with clients regardless of age, grouned in Cognitive and Reality Therapies. Jacob aims to support clients in exploring how concerns such as anxiety, grief, change, and even relationship conflicts can influence our sense of balance or feelings of empowerment. Together, it is Jacob’s goal to support clients in celebrating and embracing their strengths, providing a safe and nurturing environment where all are welcome.

Jacob focuses in areas of substance use, mood disorders, eating disorders, suicide prevention, and relationship counseling, and is dedicated to serving members of the LGBTQIA+ and Muslim communities. Jacob is certified in disaster mental health counseling and mental health first aid, and is open to incorporating creative healing, such as art therapy and sand tray, into both individual and couples’ sessions.

Hope to keep talking soon!
