Jon Kaplan (he/him)

Clinical Intern, North Carolina Central University

Hello! My name is Jon Kaplan, and I look forward to working with you as a Clinical

Student Intern at Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness. I work with ages 20 and up, and I would love to be a support and ally along your life journey.

I’m currently in my last year of studies in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at North Carolina Central University. I also have a bachelor’s degree in political science from American University in Washington, D.C.

Counseling is a career change for me after spending many years working as a musician and a writer. It’s a natural shift for me in which I can use my life experience, along with my natural empathy, warmth, and sincere interest in others’ lives.

I approach therapy from a person-centered perspective and am influenced by existential and feminist therapy. I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey between fellow human beings in a nonjudgmental space, and that the most important aspect is finding the right fit between therapist and client. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities.

In my free time, you might find me exploring a local hiking trail, going to a concert, or looking for the best ice cream in the area (suggestions welcome!)

If you are experiencing blocks in your life or transitions that feel overwhelming, therapy can help. I understand that seeking help is not always easy. If you think we might be a good fit, please get in touch so we can find out.
