Katie da Luz (she/her), LCMHC, LCAS

Outpatient Psychotherapist in South Durham

Works with ages 15+

My name is Katie and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC #11592) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS #3401). I have been working in the addictions and mental health field for over a decade. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my Master of Science in Clinical Counseling and Substance Use at East Carolina University.

I believe that the relationship between you and your therapist is fundamental to the therapeutic process. I focus on concepts of trust, creating a safe environment for you to process thoughts, develop healthy coping skills, & reduce and manage unwanted symptoms. I emphasize open and honest communication while maintaining a non-judgmental approach throughout treatment. I will create and support an individualized experience for you & center the therapeutic process around your personal goals.

I use a variety of evidence-based approaches in my therapeutic process including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I am LGBTQIA+ friendly and am committed to anti-racist work.

I look forward to working together!
