Outpatient Psychotherapist

Works with ages 16-60
My name is Macie Bateman (she/her); I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist working as an Outpatient Psychotherapist at Three Oaks Behavioral Health & Wellness as a part of the telehealth team. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from East Carolina University.
My approach to therapy is rooted in embracing that we are all, at the deepest level, whole and complete; containing within us wisdom, love, compassion, and the capacity for connection. In therapy, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their inner selves and gain a deeper understanding of their own being. Through this process, individuals can tap into their inner wisdom which holds the answers to their own healing and growth. I guide clients in recognizing their inherent strengths, helping them connect with their true essence. By embracing their wholeness and tapping into their wisdom, clients can find empowerment and learn to navigate life's challenges with resilience and authenticity.
In my practice, I emphasize the importance of the therapeutic relationship, promoting a warm and attuned environment where clients feel understood and welcomed. I utilize an integrative approach drawing from various schools of thought, including experiential approaches, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, and Attachment Theory, as well as concepts from contemporary psychodynamic therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness-based therapies. I often focus the body, noticing what we are feeling, sensing, and experiencing in the present moment. This is beneficial for keeping therapy grounded, immediate, and moving beyond ‘just talk.’ At the same time, I recognize that there is never a one-size-fits-all approach, and I strive to meet clients with the tools and approaches that are most helpful and approachable for them.
I work with adults and older teens seeking assistance with a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, substance abuse and misuse, life transitions, and identity development and change. I also welcome clients who are simply seeking growth, greater self-understanding, or a deeper sense of meaning and well-being in their lives; therapy does not always have to be about fixing a problem. Additionally, I have training and background in working with individuals who have experienced non-ordinary states of consciousness, whether through psychedelics, meditation, or other causes, and welcome clients who are seeking to integrate such experiences, whether positive, confusing, or difficult. If you feel my therapeutic approach seems like a good fit for your needs, feel free to reach out. I look forward to working with you!
