Maret Ellington (she/her), MSW, LCSWA
Outpatient Psychotherapist in Midtown
Works with ages 16-30
Hello! My name is Maret (she/her) and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (P019262) serving as an Outpatient Psychotherapist here at Three Oaks! I attended UNC Wilmington for undergrad studying French and Sociology which led to attending graduate school at NC State University for a Master’s in Social Work.
I started my social work career in the public school system where I worked with students to achieve goals relating to academics, social/emotional well-being, and other areas of desired personal growth. Working one-on-one with students inspired my transition into the therapeutic setting where I still very much enjoy working with clients on life transitions, emotion regulation, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem and self-empowerment, identity exploration, healing trauma, and managing anxiety and/or depression.
I believe there’s no time like the present to invest in yourself and that no matter what is bringing you to therapy, all parts of you are welcome here 🙂
I aim to empower my clients through a strengths-based approach alongside empathy and compassion. I use a variety of therapeutic styles including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, and I also like to incorporate activities for mindfulness and self-compassion.
In my spare time, I love to be outside, hang out with friends, listen to music, take care of my plant babies, and go to farmers markets!
