Shanetta Williams (she/her)
Clinical Intern, North Carolina Central University
Works with ages 5+
My name is Shanetta Williams (she/her/hers), and I am thrilled to be a part of the Three Oaks Behavioral Health and Wellness team as a Clinical Intern. Since my childhood, I have always had a passion for helping others. Making a difference in people’s lives and in society has always been my aspiration. My desire is to help people be their best selves by giving hope and guidance during life challenges.
I am currently enrolled at North Carolina Central University in the Clinical Mental Health program. I earned my Master’s in Psychology from Fayetteville State University in December 2022. This educational achievement has provided me with a strong foundation in both psychological and business disciplines, essential for effective client care and counseling.
Over the past several years, I've had the privilege of working with diverse populations, including adolescents, adults, and trauma survivors. My experience as a Quality Care and Research Analyst at the Pulmonary Hypertension Association has allowed me to coordinate mentorship and education programs, develop comprehensive databases for clinical research, and manage study documentation. These roles have enhanced my understanding of the importance of evidence-based practices in clinical settings.
I understand how challenging life can be and how daunting the idea of therapy might seem. My goal as an intern here at Three Oaks is to create a safe space for clients and build a trusting relationship where clients feel supported and heard. I aim to help clients discover their self-worth and build coping skills to tackle life stressors.
I am particularly interested in working with adolescents and adults who deal with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, grief/loss, and other interpersonal issues. I appreciate diversity in every aspect (race, gender, ability, sexual orientation, etc.) and seek to understand my clients in terms of their unique experiences, culture, spirituality, and other orientations. I look forward to working with all individuals while utilizing various evidence-based practices.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring local hiking trails and curling up with a good book. A quote that inspires me daily is, "The only limit to our realization of tomorrow is our doubts of today," which reminds me of the endless possibilities we can achieve through resilience and determination. I am very excited about this journey and look forward to working with you!
